KIT 12th scale 18th century Dollshouse Folly

We have the most detailed 144th scale little Folly on the planet!! We have taken the 12th scale version and strunk it and made it so that your dollshouse can have its own mini version of a Folly. When finished you may want to display it on its own. It is an absolute joy to look at and the scale is just wonderful....you can see the detail of the roof tiles, the floor tiles, even the tiny little swags above each door.  It is simply exquisite and if you decide to own one then I would love to see your finished results.

The main body is made from Pewter Alloy and is highly detailed. It is supplied with a base of 3mm mdf which is part of the assembly of the Folly.

Size:

Main Building: 50mm wide x 42mm deep x 50mm high (+finial)

MDF base: 60mm x 50mm x 3mm

The kit is in the following sections:

  • 2 x side walls (with curved corners)
  • 2 x front and back walls
  • Roof
  • Chimeny pot
  • Mdf base
  • Metal floor

You will also need filler, superglue and activator, paints and plasticine or modelling clay to act as a temporary support.

Assembly

If you have never made a kit before this might be a challenge for you. Firstly the metal floor is glued to the mdf. The ends are then placed in position and I think at this stage it is helpful to hold them inplace with some plasticine or clay. Use this as a prop. The add the front wall and the back wall (the back wall is your access wall so do not glue this into position). The more props you have in place the easier it is. When you have all parts in postion dry fit the roof. If you are struggling to fit the roof remove the little bobbles on the top of the walls - these are location bobbles. When you think you have everything in postion apply superglue to the joins allowing it to sink into the gap and use activator to fix it quickly. You can now remove the building and then glue under the base of the walls and secure them back to the floor. Fill any gaps with a suitable filler.  Next paint etc and then when almost finished glue the roof on, fill gaps and finish painting

How to paint

I recommend priming after assembling it with a metal spray primer.  This ensures your paint finish will be less likely to scratch off the metal pewter.

The better paint effects are usually achieve with a spray method this could be from a can or an airbrush.

The interior is decorated with cherubs, birds and ornamentation which you could pick out with gilt. If you want to paint the Folly before assembling it this is OK but where the glue touches aim to keep this clear of paint so that you achieve a stronger join.

TOP TIP - assembly use a clay support and some superglue and superglue spray activator.

If roof does not fit easily then remove the little bobbles.
